HOPE SCHOLARSHIP

 

The National Pan-Hellenic Council of Columbus (NPHC-Columbus) is a local affiliate of the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC).  The NPHC is an international organization composed of nine (9) predominantly Black or African-American Greek Letter Sororities and Fraternities: Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc.

 

The NPHC focuses on community service programming, professional leadership growth and combating socio-economical obstacles for the benefit of its members and the betterment of the African American communities where they live. These initiatives include providing programmatic thrusts that directly affect the lives of African Americans in the areas economic stability, achieving higher-level education, youth development, and community growth. As a result, the NPHC-Columbus is dedicated to enhancing the educational opportunities of underrepresented collegiate bound students through the offering of scholarships. We strongly believe that in order to impact leadership of tomorrow you must invest into the youth today. In keeping with its mission The HOPE Scholarship was created to assist students with the high cost of textbooks & study materials.

The Scholarship

  1. Scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $1,000.00 - $5,000 each.

  2. Funds may be used for payment of books, equipment (i.e. computer or instrument) or supplies.

  3. Proof of enrollment must be shown before any non-recurring payment is made.

 

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Enrolled officially as a senior in the current 2023-2024 academic year, in any school located in Franklin County, Ohio

  2. Registered guardianship address identified as a resident in the Franklin County, Ohio

  3. Received a minimum of a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale

  4. Scheduled to attend an accredited college or university or certificated trade program in the Fall 2024

1. April 8, 2024 – Application Posting
2. May 13, 2024 – Application Deadline
3. May 20, 2024 – Scholarship Committee Decision on Recipients
4. May 24, 2024 – Applicant(s) notified of decision
5. June 21, 2024 – Scholarship Awarded/Scholarship Announcements (During Unity Week)

*recipient must attend. Students must submit required documents
6. December 22, 2024 -- Last Day to Disburse Scholarship Award Funds for 2024
